MINEO 2026.03 is one of the most visible releases of the year. We rebuilt the way you navigate a project, shipped a brand-new Home screen, took Dev Environments to the next level, and made a big leap in the conversational experience with Threads and specialized AI assistants.
💬 Threads — Conversational AI workflows
A thread is a persistent conversation with an AI assistant inside MINEO. Threads make it easy to keep working with AI without losing context between sessions.
Features:
- Persistent history: Every conversation is saved in full so you can pick up exactly where you left off
- Pin & archive: Pin the conversations that matter most and archive the ones you no longer need
- Specialized assistants: Create as many assistants as you need, each focused on a specific task — analyzing data, exploring files, answering questions about your project, and more
- Database access: Assistants can connect to your databases and answer questions about your data in natural language
- File access: Assistants can read and analyze the files in your project
- Web search: Assistants can browse the internet to bring back up-to-date information
AI consumption tracking
Every thread now reports its AI usage so teams can keep costs under control:
- Total cost in dollars
- Number of requests
- Tools used during the conversation

Threads turn one-off AI prompts into long-running, auditable workflows that fit naturally into the way data teams already work.
🖥️ Dev Environments — Full VS Code inside MINEO
Dev Environments bring a complete VS Code workspace right inside MINEO, so you can edit, debug and ship code without ever leaving the platform.
Features:
- Full VS Code experience: Terminal, code execution, git, extensions and multi-workspace support, just like VS Code on your laptop
- Multiple Python versions: Python 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14 out of the box
- Custom images: Use your own worker images as the base for the dev environment
- Transparent file system: Direct access to all of your project files
- Persistent extensions: Configurable extensions directory and user-data directory so your setup survives across sessions

Dev Environments close the gap between notebook-first prototyping and full-code development, all inside the same project.

🏠 New Project Home
The project Home is the new default landing view, replacing the file explorer as the entry point of every project.
Features:
- Quick access to a new conversation: Start a new thread with one click, right from the Home
- Role-aware shortcuts: Quick actions adapt to the permissions of the current user
- Customizable links: Project admins can curate the links shown on the Home; by default it is populated with the Links found in the project root directory
- Recent activity: A live feed of what is happening in the project so the team stays in sync

The new Home turns the project into a workspace dashboard instead of a folder tree, putting people, conversations and shortcuts front and center.
🧭 Redesigned Sidebar & Workspace
The left sidebar has been fully reorganized to reflect how MINEO is actually used today.
Features:
- New Workspace section: Visible to editors only, it groups every MINEO entity that has been migrated away from the file system into a single, structured place
- Unified Team tab: Members and groups are merged into a new Team view, with both tables side by side
- Cleaner navigation: Sections are reordered to surface the most-used areas first

Combined with the new Home, the redesigned sidebar makes it dramatically faster to move between conversations, code, data and team management.
✨ Quality of life
- Improved documentation and updated tutorial
- Favorites integrated into the Explorer view
- Dark mode fixes across the platform
Summary
MINEO 2026.03 reorganizes the project experience around two pillars: AI conversations — through Threads and specialized assistants with built-in usage tracking — and full-code development — through Dev Environments running a complete VS Code stack inside MINEO. The new Home and the redesigned sidebar tie everything together with a navigation model that finally matches the way modern data teams work.
